School is starting up again and what does that mean for me? Well, an absurd amount of time spent in front of my lava-hot macbook, of course. I wouldn’t want to disappoint those of you who got used to me flippantly offending the beliefs of millions of conservatives, so here comes another one down the pipe.
This article (click the title of this post) is about anti-intellectualism, which I believe is one of the biggest obstacles facing america in this time. Forget economic downturns and housing market collapses. When the people corporations wielding the reigns of the country want to keep the public uneducated and happy, They will. Deploring science and creating a generation of lower and middle class warriors bent on destroying advancements in human knowledge is the most ingenious way to wealth. When people are uneducated they wont question the way things are. When things stay static, corporate america wins big. Things will stay static if everyone is too complacent and uncritical. You keep the people that way by defunding education and supporting political movements that stiffle the creation of new knowledge.
I give you John Huntsman, a Repubilcan that is NOT a raging lunatic. He said he believes in global warming (okay, Cheney will let that one slide) and evolution. Big mistake, despite his job creation and debt reduction.. boy doesnt stand a cheeseburgers-chance-in-Nolan’s-kitchen at getting the Rebulican nomination to run for president.
Dont you think ‘the most powerful country on the planet’ would be… better? It’s disheartening to know that Sarah Palin has more popular support than a Governor with a proven track record of political successes, who also believes in scientific evidence. It’s the deluded leading the blind out here, yo.
